Emergency Dept. Pharmacist

The ED provides patient care to over 75,000 patients each year and is equipped with computerized physician order entry and automated dispensing systems. Pharmacists in the Emergency Department (ED) are currently an integral part of our health care team and play an essential role in patient care management. Responsibilities include medication evaluation, consultation, development of guidelines, education of other healthcare providers, and improving the safety of medication management. The increasing demand for pharmacy services has created the opportunity to increase the number of pharmacist in the ED setting.

Central Pharmacist

Responsible for medication distribution and control, sterile product preparation, knowledge of the use of central and decentral automation, quality assurance and participation in disaster/emergency preparedness. Will supervise technician staff in the Central Pharmacy and ensure distribution activities run smoothly.

OR/Procedural Pharmacist

The Operating Room Pharmacist provides both clinical and distributive pharmacy services to the Operating Rooms, PACUs, Diagnostic and Procedural Areas. Responsibilities include: review of medication regimens for appropriateness and safety, identification of drug-related problems, verification of computer order entries, initiation of drug dosing requests and thrombolytic therapy, participation in Code Blue and Code Brain response, provision of drug information and in-services to staff and patients, attendance and presentation at the appropriate QI/PIC meetings, and supervision of the OR pharmacy technicians.

Drug Use Policy Specialist

The drug use policy specialist pharmacist is responsible for strategic planning for biologics and therapeutic advances; collaborating with medical staff in development of evidence based guidelines; evaluating new drugs for formulary and development of content for P&T Committee; serving as a resource to staff on therapeutic issues and target drug programs; maintaining the online formulary; coordinating and editing the twice yearly pharmacy newsletter; precepting pharmacy students and residents; and staff in-services. The pharmacist works collaboratively with other members of the Drug Use Policy team including antimicrobial pharmacist specialists, the medication usage evaluation pharmacist and the Clinical Coordinator. Qualifications: licensure in California, Pharm.D. with DI residency and/or equivalent experience in Drug Information and formulary management. Exemplary oral and written communication skills as well as a strong commitment to quality care and customer service are also required.

Inpatient Decentralized Pharmacists

Inpatient clinical pharmacists provide both clinical and distributive services to patients via decentralized pharmacy satellites. Pharmacist duties are: provide drug dosing services using the hospital Per Pharmacy Protocol policy, review all medication regimens, assess all new medication orders for appropriateness, verify computer order entries, rounds with the medical staff, write appropriate notes in patients charts, participate on the Code Blue Team, provide drug information to physicians and nurses, teach residents, clerkship students, and other pharmacists, and provide nursing education and supervise satellite technicians. All inpatient clinical pharmacists work 10-hour shifts (with the exception of a few identified individuals).

IV Room Pharmacists

IV Room pharmacists’ responsibilities include directing admixture activities, including TPN and chemotherapy in a centralized USP 797 clean room. The pharmacist will supervise IV Room technicians to ensure safe medication admixture. All pharmacists work 10-hour shifts (with the exception of a few identified individuals) day/evening rotation. Knowledge of sterile product preparation and automated compounding technology is desirable.

Inpatient Night Shift Pharmacists

Join our night shift team to provide comprehensive decentralized clinical and distributive services, pharmacy based drug dosing services, participate on the Code Blue Team, and provide drug information to physicians and nurses. We provide an $11.00/hour differential and an exceptional competitive salary. Night shifts are 7 on – 7 off. In addition, new hires can make an additional $30,000-$50,000.

Inpatient Oncology Pharmacists

We are looking for highly motivated individuals interested in providing direct patient care to leukemia, lymphoma, and BMT patients. Responsibilities include Comprehensive acute management of adult patients, including, therapeutic drug monitoring, approved pharmacy managed protocols, review of chemotherapy orders for accuracy and completion, and provision of drug information and optimizing drug therapy, to prevent and reduce medication errors. Compliance Pharmacist

Responsible for evaluating organizational compliance with medication standards required by regulatory agencies. Position will be responsible for evaluating storage and security of medications throughout the organization, participating in multidisciplinary tracers, education re: medication related regulatory requirements and ongoing audits. Individuals with experience in acute care pharmacy practice who have an understanding of regulatory requirements are encouraged to apply.

Evening Supervisor

Responsible for supervision of pharmacists and technicians, pharmacy operations, staff performance reviews, participation in technology deployment, implementation of organizational and departmental initiatives, as well as quality assurance. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Serves as Administrator on Call on a rotating basis. Staffs in area of responsibility up to four days per month. Exemplary written and verbal skills as well as a strong commitment to patient care required. Management experience is desired.

Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor

Responsible for the direct supervision of pharmacist and technician staff in their assigned areas, performance improvement activities related to their assigned areas, supporting compliance with regulatory requirements, precepting pharmacy residents in the area of management, and special projects for the department.

Responsibilities include the provision of clinical services and supervision of all drug distribution activities in one of our three outpatient pharmacies, including the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, San Vicente Pharmacy, and Surgery Center Pharmacy.

Pediatric Pharmacist

We have an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual interested in providing direct patient care to pediatric and neonatal patients. Responsibilities include complete pharmaceutical care including participation on daily rounds, therapeutic drug monitoring, optimizing drug therapy, preventing adverse events, and cost-effective medication use. Also participation in activities of Pediatric P&T committee, teaching opportunities, professional development and provision of drug information are required. This is a full-time (10hr-shift), day/evening rotation and every third weekend position.
